DGCA allows PEDs in flight mode
25.04.2014 12:16

Putting India in line with aviation regulations in the US and Europe the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) amended its rules relating to air safety. With this amendment air passengers can now use portable electronic devices (PEDs) such as mobiles, laptops and tablets in all phases of flight. The use of PEDs shall be in the non-transmitting mode commonly called flight/airplane mode.

Prior to this amendment, the rules prohibited the in-air use of electronic devices by passengers because of concerns that they may interfere with the functioning of aircraft systems and lead to potential safety hazards.
